Glion Dolly Electric Scooter Review

[Music] you [Music] all right well here we are with a client Dahle scooter you just arrived yesterday actually I had to take a little time to get everything set up to do the video but this came in this box or the box around it and I'm gonna unbox it I have my really checked it out I open up the box just enough to see there's a lot of loose styrofoam in here so I'm doing it inside rather than outside plus there's a little thunderstorm brewing out there and I wasn't sure I don't wanted to deal with that so anyway I just want to talk about buying this good from gly on super simple compared to uh I should might be able to see it over here on the side but I have a zoom Strider and that was a bit of a process this one I three days after I ran it through online and this is a pre-owned scooter I got a confirmation that my order was received and there's a and then within seven days and then I got the scooter so that was a seamless process I thought so that's what I hope it should be when you can see there's quite a bit Sarah foam on here one thing that is nice about electric scooters online is they come already assembled and the packing is usually quite good box unwrap it oh sorry guitar sorry here we go it looks like it comes with some warnings here that are pretty nice and yeah I'm gonna basically unwrap everything here you can see how it's snapped together it looks like it's really secure it looks like even though it was noted as a pretty own scooter it looks to be I mean looks and being pretty sweet shape so I'm going to unbox this thing further now and wrap it not unbox there and box it and I'll take it outside go through the features on it and do a little ride right around and let you know my first impressions thanks a lot hey how's it going checking out July on dolly scooter you see here and it's in its and is kind of its namesake the dolly setting so I'm gonna go through some of the detail if there's specifics on the scooter and we'll take it for ride and a few and give you a good feel for it so I'm gonna I'm gonna unfold it and then I'll get the camera off here and look up nice and close look at the glein handlebars are folded the unfolding mechanism is pretty easy if you do just pull enough and they snap into place same on the other one nice and easy I'm gonna come down here on the front you got a nice I'll check out how nice it is later but you got a headlight here that's actuated by the control pad I'll show in a second they call them honeycomb tires but they're a nice airless tire eight inches on front and rear the motors on the rear got that charging port here which I like because it has kind of a positive shut eye closing mechanism but at the same time it isn't there's not a gasket on the back for like a waterproofing this is the unfolding and folding mechanism this controls both the locked closed and locked open and the in the manual it refers to making sure this is seated but I'm used to that so just push forward firmly and it seats got a deck size of five and quarter inches wide by eight 18 inches long and it's got this pretty nice grip tape on it it's a pretty long deck and I'll grab my shoes here in a second give you a feel for how how that would look with a average man's feet I get back to the back so we've got a 250 watt nominal 600 watt peak brushless direct drive motor so we got power coming in here these are the dolly wheels that are rolls omelets and the dolly mode it just has a rear reflector and it's a plastic fender which seems like it's just fine there was not a torque rating on this motor that I could find online I was referring to the deck size so let's put my size 10 shoes up here give you a feel for what it would look like it's pretty it's a little too narrow I think to comfortably do the side-to-side but there's a lot of length it's pretty long so kind of some ways you can orient your feet that should be helpful coming down here we got a nicely integrated kickstand the deck height is 5 inches off the ground with 3 inches of clearance the batteries are down in the deck I'm gonna flip the scooter around for a little better lighting come back into the deck and the handlebars you see there's three positions which is pretty good even on this low position it's pretty usable so you got a thirty inches from the deck to the handlebars in this position then you go up to 36 inches and 39 inches which is pretty high so coming up to the handlebars its you'll notice right away it's the handlebars are wide so you got simple there's simple controls here you got a twist throttle twist brake good bail and this kind of weird cover is when it's folded in the dolly feature this is resting on the ground so it protects your handlebar from scratches to power on the scooter two seconds on and that turns on the just the display which it's gonna mean may be hard to see I'll move it a little bit here see if it helps it's a very simple display it it is just it's just a battery indicator let me get over here into shade see if it looks a little bit better so we'll see I'll I'll use my phone to give some details on the speed and what-have-you and then if you hold this on you tap you tap the red button on that's what turns on the headlight it's pretty low but I think it should give I should both light paths your path and also give some warning to whatever you're seeing on the road and then you tap again to turn that light back off and then to turn off the scooter you hold this red button again for two seconds let go and it's off so I'm gonna set the tripod down here and I will do a quick I'll fold the scooter up just you can see how that works alright so for folding the scooter it's pretty simple but it the first time I did it it felt a little awkward so you put push forward on the handlebar and then you just pull down on this crack this this mechanism and it clicks into place and then the handlebars you just pull this same shim that popped into place out and flip it down and hoops and there you go seems pretty simple one thing I did want to note here I'll fold back up and you hear that positive click here I really haven't ridden a scooter yet but I did notice that I grabbed that again you'll notice there's quite a bit of play I don't know how that will come into effect wouldn't writing but I did notice that just upon everything on the scooters beefy I mean it's like aluminum looks like good welds it's really solid looking and this is a much thing I mentioned in the unboxing but this is a refurbished scooter that got there's a warehouse deal through galiyan for 529 I would you know kind of watch those periodically if this is of interest to you and get a little discount and then also to note is I noticed and I went through and tightened everything on this scooter you can notice there so there's some flex down it can't it's a little hard to see where it is actually coming from I'm gonna see if I can take that out of there it looks like could be it might even mean the kind of this little headset yeah I think it might be but I'll try to get that little flex out of there before I take it on the ride all right well that's kind of the overview of the specs on oh the other thing I might mention glance is this is 28 pounds I measured it myself and I got 27 and a half pounds so it comes in a light and they raid it for 15 miles per hour top speed and 15 miles of range I won't be able to do the range in this video I think this is gonna be the overview but I'll try to do a top speed and then I'll have a follow up detailed video with range test acceleration braking so get a good good comparison so you can pair it to other scooters all right I'm looking at my little cheat sheet here to see if there's anything else I need to say oh yeah the battery it's a 36 volt 6.6 amp hour battery that has 238 watt hours of power so not hugely powerful but we'll see how that comes into play I see any other and they are supposed to be Sony tails in there so good quality sell I also sells replacement battery packs so they have a good but they have a good selection of like you can replace parts on this as needed Matt some little accessories and that's a good cover and what-have-you anyway I think that doesn't I'm gonna hook up a couple cameras and we're gonna ride it around try to give you a feel for its like to ride and cool see you then so this just a note the scooter only has pushed to start so it won't engage the motor until and I'll right now oh maybe I'm wrong okay no that was weird whoa okay so it barely has done all right that's good to know the scooter has to barely moved before the throttle engages and I know I said I didn't know what the torque was but that feels pretty torquey so let's go check it out so this my road I'm honest this is kind of a bumpy road so there's quite a bit of vibration here so this thing's rated at 15 miles per hour apologize for the wind it's a really windy day here but it's a the scooter feels pretty spunky like it's I mean I don't I'm not trusting this speedometer app I have shown here so I'm gonna actually turn it off I'm gonna go on a little bit of a area of dirt and we'll see how this wood no suspension does oh boy that is really oh goodness all right that's not all this let's scooters all jeez Louise okay well you can obviously tell from that little episode there this scooter is strong point is not off-road riding or super rough terrain I miss you move the microphone now down to nearer that motor and see if that gives you better the way you can hear it [Music] delay I'm not sure how well you're able to tell that on the microphone but there's definitely a delay from when you go all the way full throttle to letting off the throttle and then there's a pause before throttle the throttle engages again here I'm gonna go over here on some rough asphalt and this should give you an idea of what you know rough road riding might be like oh that's not too bad actually the other thing I'm really realizing I like is the width of these handlebars are nice it just gives you a lot more control and actually I can I can hear I'll just just you know the other scooter I've tried which I'll do a comparison review later - it's got much narrower handlebars and it's really sketchy one-handed and this is it's totally comfortable one-handed honestly so you know you could go to Starbucks and grab your you know latte and look like a total do easily but hey I love me some pumpkin spice alright we're cruising down here I will not display the sign that says new scooter state boards or fun things to write on allowed in the school but uh it's okay it's a weekend and I'm not doing anything reckless alright we're gonna go back out in the wind this is full speed it's really Howlin I mean this has got to be a 25 mile-per-hour wind so if this is going much above 10 miles per hour it's be pretty pretty good honestly I'm gonna kind of hop down off this curb and see it's a little jarring when you come off any sort of big bump oh here we go and that's not bad and I'm gonna get it pretty much full all right we're gonna do a full breakage break seems to work pretty well as well so of course I'll do a full on ride braking tests and the celebration tests and what-have-you later but hopefully it gives you a little bit of feel for what's like the ride I'm also gonna write it on a commuting situation so you can get an idea for that crossing some river tracks and what-have-you kind of interesting though the light handlebars really give you a lot of confidence but at the same time you hit a bump and you better be holding on tight all right so I'm about to go over some railroad tracks you hit a good feel for what this is like Alan wasn't as bad as the other one okay so that combination a little bit of handlebar flex on the bumps a little unnerving and also the the deck height is quite high on this which makes gives you like a good view of the road of at the same time it's kind of hard to kick so if you ran out of battery I don't think you'd want to kick it very far with the right smoothness of roads and kind of like the twist throttle and brake thanks for really nice smooth uh riding on sidewalks after you should be doing a lot of writing on sidewalks but makes nice and smooth I'll try the talk here but it's kind of it's really borderline unraidable for me in this my commute when I commuted to work this morning like all the vibration my hands felt like they're vibrating for a couple hours after I got to work all right I'm going to wrap up the review for the gly on dolly scooter and it's dolly format right here hopefully I just kind of showed that well enough in the other video but as I'm talking here I'll go ahead and fold it fold it up but generally the scooter is built solidly some of the things I like I kind of alluded to before the white handlebars and from a speed perspective it's it it's kind of interesting and I'll talk about that in terms of the range so I know said earlier I was going to do one range test but I started to think with these initial reviews I should at least do one range test just be in the ballpark so I did do that and that was pretty interesting because the bar indicator so it's a four bar battery indicator on the handlebar and that I was a little concerned because at seven miles into my range test it dropped one bar so I turned around thinking this was gonna be a lot of kicking and with this with this particular scooter in the height of the deck it's not the best scooter to be kicking for a long distance so I turned around and I proceeded to go on another 10 miles so I got 17 miles on this thing before it went out so I kept having to go back and forth on this one part people write wonder what the hell that is doing but you got 17 miles and that's exceeds 215 miles so that that gly on says one thing I found interesting about it was the speed changes quite a bit depending on the amount of battery you have so right off the bat the top speeds higher than 15 I was getting 17 maybe 17 half even initially and that only lasts for maybe like half a mile like not very long then it drops down to about 15 and that lasts for quite a while so I was seeing 15 miles per hour probably for nearly 10 miles and then then it kind of system and would be dropped then I got more like around 14 and 13 and then you know last mile is more like 12 and with that top speed drop your else acceleration drops as well so I think it yeah I mean the top season awesome but I think for this scooter and not having a suspension so that's my biggest complaint and after this review I'm gonna do some more range test acceleration and there'll be a follow-up video with more detail for comparison to other scooters but I'll probably be selling this scooter because on my commute and that's that's what I'm gonna get to I think the biggest negative with this scooter is it doesn't have any suspension and it it almost feels to me like that more than a hundred percent of the road shock comes up through you and on my commute that's I deal with pretty bumpy roads so I really think I need to have suspension for my particular situation if you have pretty smooth roads and the dolly feature really was good for you like if you have to walk a significant distance and that kind of thing that or maybe you just have some issues carrying something that's you know over 25 pounds in one arm for long I would say then the glein dolly is probably good pretty good choice for you the other positive with it's kind of lower speed and the twist the combination of the twist are all it's really easy to ride low speeds some of the thumb throttle scooters are kind of jerky and this one it's smooth and both especially at low speeds yeah 10 miles per hour it between the braking and the acceleration it's really smooth so I got to say that about it like smooth sidewalks you know making sure you cannot go much faster in pedestrians like you're supposed to yeah it works well and you know the distance the range is good I didn't really impracticality a little bit of wiggling us in the handlebars and the stuff didn't really affect me too much I really didn't notice it being too much of an issue but I think I said in the video before the first time I rode it to work which is a community of railroad tracks some bumpy brick type roads I'm not exaggerating that my hands were vibrating for hours after I got to work so that is just all that road shock coming up into your hands and your body and if you aren't holding on tight there's a couple times that if I hadn't been holding on tight I probably would have been ejected from the scooter hitting like a little bump or even like a chunk of a tree you know a little bit of a tree branch in the path so that's something to be aware of one other thing I want to mention was this something I experienced at the end of my range test and it was towards the end I was having to do one more loop to get try to get this battery exhausted and I went to turn and what happened as I turned and if did this thing that wasn't a good representation but what happened as I went to turn the handle bar turn the wheel didn't and the ham bar went down and what appeared to be is that just all the vibrations the and that goes through the scooter it kind of had wiggled the pin out of the out of it's preset so when I went to turn it just it dropped down so that's a little concerning I would so I probably try to make sure you got the the clamp here pretty extra tight but oh no the glam performed better than I thought it would I didn't buy it initially because of what I thought it might be like but it feels pretty torquey especially right off the charger feels I wish it was like that spunky the whole time I'd be great white handlebar is also good and and in the size of the deck is good for me the lack of suspension and the rough ride are pretty to deal with so I hear make it target going when I must be talking loud but so oh no I think it's a pretty good product for the price especially if you get one of these pre-owned factory pre-owned ones that I got for 529 I I think it's a pretty good setup so I'm gonna compare this to a couple other scooters in a separate video and I like as I said I'll do a detailed video on the seller ation and breaking that's the other one another another another thing I wanna mention is the electronic braking on this is very strong and hopefully I'll be able to bear that out in the braking test but compared to the zoom straighter scooter it's maybe you can see in the video it's up against the wall over there this electronic brake is a lot stronger but it doesn't seem maybe it's cuz the handler with it doesn't seem like it's one that pitch you off the pitching you off guard so when you hit the hard bumps but anyway I think I covered everything I wanted to cover in this hello I'm David Thornton today I want to give you just a review and overview of the gly on Dahle foldable lightweight adult electric scooter with the lithium-ion battery okay first of all this little port right here is where you plug the charger in and I'll show you how the charger works a little bit later this lever right here is what releases it to unfold okay you have your headlight right here and there's also a pen and adjustment here for the height of the handlebars okay the wheels in the back are for like your luggage wheels for using it like a dolly like a piece of luggage and then here in the front is the pull out handle okay and this just pulls out so you can use it on the wheels in the back like a piece of luggage all right this lever right here when it's on the ground you can use your foot to do this and I'll show you that in a minute but you just push down on that lever and you can see it come out of the notch in the front now then you just raise the handlebars forward until you hear the click you got to hear that click when it clicks that means it locks in all right now right here the handlebars just fold out and you'll see these two sleeves they'll pop into place when they when they get in the right position okay now also it has a little kickstand here on the back okay if you leave that down it'll make it a little weird noise when you're when you're rolling when you hear it drag the ground so if you get on your scooter and you're here making a weird noise chances are the kickstand is down okay alright as you can see you're out here there's a couple of different holes for the adjustment of the height of the handlebars so I've got mine on the middle position which works good for me to change it you just release this right here this clamp right here and then it'll easily move up and down to the next notch or the the lower notch okay I'm gonna leave it right there in the middle now to collapse the handlebars back down you just pull these sleeves out like this and fold it down it's a little bit easier to do that when you have it on the ground once again I'm going to go over with you the way you take the handlebars down and you release it to fold it up or unfold it okay you can see these sleeves right here you just pull those out and it just folds down vice versa when you're unfolding it to use you just raise these up and they snap into position okay now the same thing with folding it up or folding it down you want to put your foot on here and press down you can hit release and then as it goes down you want to hear that click that means it locked into position okay all right we're gonna we're going to raise it back up and it's gonna lock in the position there and I've got the kickstand down so it'll just stand there okay all right now I want to show you the controls or the the main thing here that shows you the right now it's off to activate this you press and hold it for just a couple of seconds you can see it turned green there as it comes on now if you toggle this switch one time it makes your head light come on okay oh if you can see that but the headlight is own so if you just toggle that switch one time while you're in the on position it makes your head light go on and off all right I turn the headlight off all right now right here you'll see on the grip the grip is kind of cut into two different pieces well this this part here turns now that's your throttle on the right side now on the left side the same thing happens but this is your brake and it's not a mechanical brake it's an electric brake that works with the motor this right here is a bell okay all right so the scooter will not work it will not go forward until it's rolling a little bit so you have you got to get on it and give it a little push off and when you turn the throttle right here as you take off it will it will give it energy and go now the same thing works with the button as far as turning it on and off you press it for a couple of seconds and hold it to turn the unit on and you also press it and hold it for a couple seconds to turn the unit off alright we're going to take the scooter now from the completely folded up position like you just got it out and are ready to use it okay first thing we're going to do is push the latch on the bottom here raise it up till it clicks then we're going to pull our handlebars out and then for me I got to bring it to the middle position on the height so we're going to loosen this lever here raise it up to the middle position and then lock that back down all right I've got the kickstand down where it'll stand here we're going to press the red button for just a couple of seconds to bring it on and I'm on all the lights are green the battery shows full and now to get this thing going you just got to give yourself just a little bit of a push off I don't know if you can hear that but it makes just a little bit of noise not much that's the break when you turn the break it it engages the motor and causes it to stop all right but this scooters got pretty good speed I'm gonna say it goes about 15 miles an hour which is plenty fast enough [Applause] all right as you can see it works pretty good I really enjoy it we've got a long asphalt driveway here and it's very very fun all right so we're going to fold it back up now one more time we'll go through this press the red button for just a couple of seconds to make it shut down okay then we're going to loosen this lever here push the pin in drop it to the lowest notch tighten that back up slide this the tubes on the handlebars out lock that down and then you can take your foot and push the lever down here fold it down till it clicks and you're ready to go now if you want to use it like a piece of luggage just pull this out and there you got your wheels you're ready to go alright the only other thing I need to do is show you how the battery charger works alright here we have the charger for the guy on electric scooter what I want to show you is first of all I've got it plugged in to the jack on the scooter there's a little door down there that's your swing open to reveal the jack and once we plug the charger in you'll see the light turn blue then red the red indicates that it's charging okay once it gets fully charged the light will turn green once the light turns green the owner's manual indicates that it will trickle charge for an extra thirty minutes after it turns green to fully fully charge it so if possible once it turns green leave it plugged up for another 30 minutes now one thing else you might want to consider about this scooter is that it does have a lithium ion battery so there is no memory to the battery so you can charge it as often as you like you don't have to run it all the way down or anything like that if you use it for 15-20 minutes or whatever if you use it a little bit just go ahead and plug it back up and charge it back up to full capacity and you'll be ready to go full charge the horses don't know what to think of this thing

everybody I get something cool to show you today something new got something new I'm gonna open up here in a second some for commuting so about done boxes here I said lie on dolly electric scooter I'm gonna check it out unbox it and [Music] today just box it by charged up if it charges enough drive it around belt do a different review after I've driven it for a while so let's check it out [Applause] well that's it those get it pretty easy that's just what looks like I'm boxed they'll get it pretty easy tops it look I showed you put it away handlebars pull it down and the folding mechanism to put it away right here a little stiff with time but let's slowly on this one first sloping on this one is this capability to stand up like this it has a little tear chase so I can the Train it stands up turns up where could be like an between my level the terrain from a seat review actually how it drives you know show you that right it for a couple weeks see how it is right now I like it it looks looks pretty cool but we'll see how to charge it now and see how it drives dis blame her be careful on that thing just don't pick your hand off made a mistake had my first accident wiped out pretty good and I can't really move arm right now can't be careful didn't step it up scuffed up a little bit stuck up the scooter tiny bit arm hurts is really throbbing right now but I'll get better just passed or right now yeah be careful I have is about to fall off took my arm off first and doctors fix my head so with the fly off and loss control with it so be careful with it it could be dangerous okay so it's been about three weeks ins I filmed the unboxing of the guy on dolly uh yeah hurt my arm pretty bad with that 100% my fault operational error is nothing to do with the guy on dolly right I wasn't careful enough took my hand up the steering wheel lost control and I felt so I just want to put that out there hunter send my fault I hadn't then we use my arm very good use a throttle in the past three weeks so it's one it's taken me three weeks to film well it's taking me three weeks to be able to write it to work so today I wrote to work talk about first first reactions of the Studer let's talk about initial cons right when I started this morning it was dark the light is not very good you probably heard that before in videos in other reviews the light's not very good it's not it's kind of dim down low doesn't spread very well so I'll probably include another light right around here maybe attachable light or never you were a headlamp might have a little bit other things I don't like I don't like the throttle break most you well every stood I've seen either has a put a thumb break or a handbrake also the throttle is a little weird I mean a lot of them everyone I've seen has a thumb throttle this style is not too bad it's it's ok enough but I'd rather have a thumb throttle the handbrake I'd rather and I'd rather have a handbrake here another time I don't like is the light here that's just reflective it's not a brake light I wish there was a kind of brake light I I need to get me a reflective belt or a vest of wear when I'm drying this at night pros they ruled will I'm the I'm on the very heavier end of their weight limit yeah I read about three and a half miles today on charge the battery meter here said fool when I got there but again I've heard people say that's not very accurate so I charged at my office today but I'll try it one day and see if I can make it to there and back so the full seven months seven to eight miles on a full charge supposed to make it I think I said fifteen miles I think I said on the specs but that's a person who weighs about 150 pounds and a flat cert on a completely flat surface I don't have a whole lot of hills on the way to work so it did pretty well another another Pro I liken these is the tires they are honeycomb tires so there they don't have any air in them don't worry about flats the jammies I've seen a lot of reviews where people will say they are there tires will fight easy but I'm Owen that quality its build quality it's it's very sturdy didn't have any issues with that I like the will will back here keeps letting a brief and finally back to your leg but the biggest thing I like about this thing is it's how it folds up it makes it so much easier to when I do I go I I ride to the train hit the train to work then I write at it some more it's soaked importable I can fold it real nice and compact I can get it on the train I can stand it up right in between my legs I don't have to we don't have to lay it down or get into the seat or anything like that and at work I had to share an office so I can I can go in the corner of the office I won't take up a lot of room that's a mess and that is what sold me on this I looked at the Jami I looked at the swag Tron swagger v so I looked at the swagger on swagger v and I looked at the dough tracks gxl all great scooters all great reviews they all have the the throttle like I like and the handbrake that I like however they didn't feel as portable and as compact as the gly on dolly and that is the deciding factor for me if you don't need the compactness of the gly on the xiaomi swagger on the go tracks all seem a great option to go for as y'all me was a really close second for me johnny was it's hard to get on Amazon it's sold out I will do another review after I've written some more this is all my first data riding after I've written in a few months I will do a more in-depth thoughts on the street how it's done [Music] what is up peeps Brett McCluskey here with electric ride review calm and today we are reviewing the gly on dolly model 215 electric scooter now this thing is honestly quite a bit of fun to ride it's got a 250 watt motor that will propel this little thing up to 15 miles an hour or a total range of 15 miles which really isn't that bad for something this compact now right off the bat I just want to say that probably my very favorite thing about this machine right here is that it can go from this to this so I'm gonna break down this machine for you right now we're gonna start from the top work our way down all the way to the end here and then after that we will throw up some pros and some cons and we will talk about some of the things that I love about this machine some of the things that I don't like about it and some things I'd like to see improved in the future so let's start up at the top of this vehicle and we will cover what's on the handlebar so on the right hand side of the handlebars there is a half grip twist throttle your battery readout display and a little red button which turns on and off the light so let's start with the half grip twist throttle so this thing is actually pretty responsive as far as however much you twist it is really how fast you're going to go so if you only want to go a few miles an hour you know this thing is really responsive you can give it just a little bit of gas and it's going to react accordingly this little red button up here on the right hand side of the handlebars that turns on and off your front headlamps so let's talk about the headlamp just real quick the headlamp is there it's not super bright it's not a great beam pattern you're not going to be able to use this headlamp to illuminate your path it's a good piece of gear to let you know oncoming traffic and pedestrians kind of see you as you're coming but the beam pattern is really striated it looks kind of like a barcode you know if you do want something to illuminate your path I would definitely recommend maybe buying an aftermarket light I'll drop a link down encryption to some headlamps that I use on my electric vehicles I think it would be a good fit for the glial as well and on the top of the right-hand side of the handlebars we've got the heads-up display so the heads-up display on the glein it's not bad it's just not that great it's really nothing to write home about the only piece of information that you get to see on this little heads-up display up here is basically your battery level and I'm gonna tell you right now that the battery level is not exactly super accurate so if you're trying to see how much mileage you got left or how much battery you have less don't count on this thing giving you an accurate reading so after about 4 miles or so the battery indicator said I had one bar left so I was a 25 percent battery or less now however I basically kept going on this thing for another I think it was 7 miles before I actually ran out of juice so you know it's not super accurate but it is there and that's a plus now in my opinion I really wish that this thing had you know a speed indicator on it a mileage indicator to let you know how fast you're going let you know how far you've gone again I I know I always say this but you know if you've got a heads-up display already on an electric vehicle like why not add that extra information on there you've already got it hardwired into the system you already got electricity going to it so you may as well add some extra information if you can in the middle of the handlebars is a little plastic kind of covering like a protective covering and it's there basically so that when you fold the gly on and you're towing it behind you if you want to stand it up it actually rests right here on the handlebars I think it's basically there just to keep it from getting scratched up on the left-hand side of the handlebars there is a cute little bell which again is actually pretty good if you want to let pastor bys know that hey I'm coming up please don't hit me so check this out this is how loud it is right not bad okay not bad if we keep going to the left side of the handlebars we've got another half grip twist throttle but for this it's actually not a throttle it's a break so when I first opened this up I saw three twist rattles one on each side I thought oh my gosh does this thing have like dual motors and each each twist throttle like control one motor no on the left side of the brake the right side as a throttle so this is the first time that I've seen a twist throttle to be used as a brake so it was kind of weird to see it it's fine it's just kind of weird maybe just something to get used to now the brakes themselves are actually really strong so it's electric braking right it's regenerative braking it's using the motor right here the 250 watt motor in the back to slow you down the good news is the braking is really powerful is really strong you can actually stop like with the quickness now the bad news is is that with this brake right here you only have one level of braking it's either off or it's full brake there is no in-between I mean it's a twist throttle you can put it on different settings but once the brakes activated like it's going to give you a full stop until you come to a stop so not the worst thing in the world but I do wish that there was the same level of responsiveness on the brake as there is on the throttle right here on both sides of the handlebars are these two little connectors you pull them out and that's actually how you this is simple this thing for when you want to fold it up so that's all you guys do just pull these little pieces of metal they fold down when you want to actually unfold it you snap it back up like that and it's really that simple like it doesn't take very long at all right at the top of the stem is the little quick release lever so you can raise or lower the handlebars to your liking there's three different settings or it's this one right here which is the lowest there's a middle one which is right here and there's the highest which is right here and if we keep going down the stem at the bottom we've got the headlamp I don't know exactly how bright this thing is but I got to say again it's not the best headlamp in the world it's certainly not the worst but it's not very bright it doesn't have a good being pattern it is nice that it is there because again you know if people can see you as you're coming so I'm glad that it's on there I wish that it had a more powerful headlamp though so the stem right here the handlebar is the whole this whole chassis is made out of aircraft-grade aluminum so the glam is actually pretty light weighing in at 28 pounds and at the very bottom of the stem we've got the tires so these things are actually really really nice I really like these tires they are eight inches they are honeycomb never flat tires so they're not pneumatic there's not air in then maybe there's air in them but not a lot like you can't pump them up or anything but they're never flat so if you run over a nail or some thorns whatever you have to worry about getting a flat on your trip so that I really dig about it another thing I really like about these tires is just the geometry of them they're they're actually rounded so that makes turning and it makes leaning into turns like really easy I've written some other electric scooters where you know the mote it's a hub motor just like this and the tire is like completely flat so it's really difficult to turn and it basically do the machines you know it just wants to go in a straight line whereas with this thing you know it's got a nice curvature on the tires it's got a nice tire profile and it makes just it makes riding the gly on actually pretty enjoyable and I tribute that to the awesome tire profile on these things on this little tiny down tube section on the right hand side of the machine that's where the battery charging port is so there's a little cover on it you can flip it open and it reveals the charging port you can just plug it in right there takes about three and a half hours to charge so not that bad this little metal piece right here is the quick-release lever for the stem so you can press this down with your foot or your hand whatever the stem folds down you fold in the handlebars and you can pull out this little handle right here and you can tow this thing behind you like like a suitcase or whatever or a hold of electric scooter I guess but I really I really dig this function of having the handle built into the frame because when you fold this thing up it's actually pretty compact it's 36 inches long 16 inches tall and only 8 inches wide so it's really like pretty compact package that you can bring into a coffee shop with you you can bring it into the office you can bring it into your home to work whatever and it's not you know making a scene like if you were bringing the you know like a Holly burn with you or the fat suit or something like that inside the deck the lion is rocking some Sony batteries there are 36 volts now again the range that this thing says it has online on the website is 15 miles so the actual range that I got out of it was 11 miles which really is not that bad at all because I'm a 200-pound rider I'm always going full-speed I'm breaking a lot I do go up some hills and I gotta say 11 miles is really not that bad I was kind of expecting worse especially because this thing is just so small so 11 miles when the estimated range is 15 dig that and at the very back of the machine we've got the 250 watt hub motor so this thing is not the most powerful motor in the world obviously it's only 250 watts but given the fact that it's not the most powerful motor in the world it does still get you where you're going I mean as long as you don't plan on tackling you know 30% inclines or carrying a hundred pounds of gear with you or whatever like it's gonna get you where you're going I'm a 200-pound rider and for me I was able to climb all the hills in my local city without any real issues you I definitely bogged down a little bit but I didn't come to a complete stop it wasn't anything super noticeable it's just I kind of slowed down it wasn't going max speed that's it now with the motor there's kind of some downsides to this particular motor right here as far as noise is concerned this hub motor is a little bit louder than some of the other ones that I've tested it in the past I don't know what it is about it but there's there's a constant kind of just relatively loud whirring noise that you get when you're driving even when you're not under load even when you're not climbing hills just like it like at full speed when you're cruising like this thing still puts off a decent amount of noise the other thing is kind of an issue or just something to note about this motor in particular is that while the throttle itself is responsive as far as you know like what level of do you want to go there's kind of a delay when we get into the motor so when you twist the throttle there's a half second to even up to a second of delay before you get power to the motor right I know that's kind of an issue with some hub motors but that is something I wanted to point out with this motor in particular it's not a super quick wind-up so just something to be aware of and at the very very end of this machine we've got these two little wheels on either side and this tiny little cute little kickstand the kickstand doesn't work it's really small it's not a lot of surface area on the foot of it so if you're gonna put it on grass or a soft surface it's probably gonna sink in just to let you know so that's kind of a general rundown of the specs of the gly on scooter now let's talk about some of the pros some of the cons and some things I'd like to see done differently in the future so the very first thing I'm gonna throw up here the pros column is going to be the range now again at 11 miles that was my experience of the average range of this thing 11 miles is really not that bad at all it's got an estimated range of 15 personally I found that it was 11 miles and that's kind of in line of what I was expecting you know generally I find that most electric vehicles have got about a 66% or like two-thirds of the real range compared to what the estimated range is so the ply on fall is pretty much right in line with where that is now if you're a lighter writer if you don't plan on going full speed the entire time like I do if you don't have a lot of hills in your area you probably will get closer than a 15 mile range maybe even a little bit more Pro number to the Brix so I really do dig that the braking on this thing is super powerful for such a small motor I mean again 250 watts is not a whole lot of power but it's able to somehow stop a lot more efficiently with this regenerative braking than a lot of other electric vehicles of a similar motor size so I really like that it's got a powerful motor it gives me kind of a lot of confidence when I'm riding it that I can go full speed without having to worry about oh man like what if a car pulls out or if you know a kid or like a pedestrian is running across the street or on the sidewalk like I'm not gonna be able to stop in time nine times out of ten I'm gonna say yes and if you can't I mean because the top speeds only 50 miles an hour he's probably boffin anyways and for the third Pro I'm gonna throw the tires up there again I just I really like the the tires it makes it maneuver really well the profile is fantastic it's a nice nice curvature so it makes turning it makes leaning in the turns comfortable like you feel secure when you're turning you don't feel like you're gonna tip over you don't feel like you're gonna lose control and the other thing I like about the tires or I guess just the maneuverability in general is the range of motion that the stem has so check this out look how far you can turn this stem right that's almost like a 90 degree turn right there and almost a 90 degree turn to the right so what that means for me is that when I'm in a tight space if I'm indoors like it's easy to maneuver this thing around at slow speeds or even just when you're walking like the fact that it has that range of motion is really awesome so I'm lumping that in with the tires even though it's kind of a separate thing and another pro is gonna be the fact that this thing folds down to such a compact size again I I kind of thought it was a gimmick when I first got this that it folded and had a little handle thing stuck in the stuck in the body whatever but when I actually used it the more that I used it the more I was like wow this is like a supremely functional aspect of this machine and I kind of started to like it more and more so I really like it it does fold down but more than that I like that it has a handle that you can tow it behind you because you know some other electric vehicles they fold down too but you start to kind of carry it by the stem and you know even 28 pounds or however you know much another electric vehicle weighs that can get a little bit heavy after a while but pulling this thing behind you I mean it's not it's not a lot of effort at all and for the last Pro I'm gonna say practical like this thing is just a practical machine like I feel like this is the businesspersons machine or like the college students machine right like this is electric scooter for somebody who is looking to get to where they're going not ruin their clothes not be sweaty you don't have to worry about storing it or putting it someplace Sadie's bring it with you wherever you go I don't know but it's practical that's what I got to say it's practical now there are some pros for sure but there's also some cons malice about those so the first and biggest con for me is going to be the motor not that it's not powerful enough because it definitely is but there's two kind of primary things that really bug me about this motor in particular and the first one is that you know like I mentioned there's a delay in transferring the power from the throttle to the motor itself so you twist the throttle and then like half a second or a second later you actually feel yourself getting propelled forward and that just kind of gets frustrating to me I don't like that I wish she was more of an instantaneous thing twist the throttle boom you go the other issue I have with a motor is that it's a little bit louder than I'd like it to be it's not you know like super noisy people are gonna be turning their heads when you pass by like what is that noise what does that youngster doing on that contraption that's that's not how it is but it is noisier than I'd like and I wish that they could find a way I wish that gly on could find a way to kind of minimize that whirring noise that you hear whenever this thing is in motion not a huge deal not a deal-breaker but for me if I'm gonna be nitpicky I'm throwing that in there okay Kahn number two I'm throwing the headlamp up there I mean this thing is it's practically pointless like like I get that it's on there and I like that you can toggle it on and off with a little button on the handlebars that's really cool but I mean realistically I don't know the headlamp it doesn't do anything besides like let people know that you're coming you can't use it like practically you're not going to illuminate your path like I mentioned before you're not gonna really see we're going in the dark so I mean I feel like I would prefer to pay a little bit more money to have a real headlamp on here even if it drained the battery a little bit like that'd be fine but just something where I can turn it on at night and at 15 miles an hour maybe have like 50 yards illuminated in front of me and I would feel comfortable you know traveling in the dark the next thing on the cause list is going to be the braking so I like that the braking is really strong and effective but I don't like that there's only one breaking like it would be cool if you were able to just like the responsiveness with the throttle it'd be cool if you had that same level of responsiveness with the braking and you could have you know 10% braking with a motor 15% braking so if you're going down a slight hill you can maybe maintain a certain speed but still feedback energy into the battery as opposed to going from full speed to like five miles an hour which is a quick twist on the brakes one more thing for the cons call on the net said I promise so I got to put the quick-release lever in the cause column unfortunately I like that it's here I like that the gly on folds down and they're super compact but when you use the quick release lever and you're actually unfolding the stem it clicks into place and that lets you know that this thing is secure it's locked and ready to go but the problem is is that it will be like kind of locked even if it doesn't click into place so it feels like it's sturdy and like ready to go but then you can be driving and then like a few seconds later this thing will collapse on you and that's the problem the one thing I want to suggest if you buy one of these things is when you are are unfolding the stem make sure you hear that clicking noise when you actually are seating this thing all the way because that lets you know that it's actually locked if you don't hear the clicking noise when you unfold the stem like be careful just make sure you hear the clicking noise that's all I'm gonna say okay so now we got to talk price and whether or not this thing is worth the money the gly on electric scooter runs for eight hundred and fifty bucks eight hundred $49 technically on the gluon website now from my experience with the electric vehicles I tested for eight hundred and forty nine bucks this thing is definitely worth the money there are some things I'd like to see improved on it like I mentioned I want to see a quieter motor I want to see more control when you're braking but overall eleven mile range 250 watts of power it does have a headlamp that you know kind of works whatever this is a good machine for somebody who is looking to have something that's practical like again this is the practical persons electric vehicle it's not going to be the most fun it's not going to be the fastest but it is going to get you where you're going and you're not going to sweat you're not going to like wrinkle your suit that's what you're wearing and again I think this would be great for like college people or people that are going to work or whatever you know you can get to class you can do it expediently all in all I really like the gly on again like I got to say that when I first got this thing the fact that it folded down the fact that there's a handle inside I really thought it was kind of a gimmicky feature but the more that I use that the more that I really really kind of enjoyed this thing just without one aspect alone so now a lot of times I'm actually using the Goliath over like my electric skateboard or some of my other bigger electric scooters if I'm just going down the street to a coffee shop or to a gas station or something because it's just so easy to get in and out of the places again like I mentioned the fact that this there's so much range of motion with a stem means that I can go indoors and I have to worry about running in this stuff whereas something like the Holly burn or the fat scooter it's a little bit more difficult to maneuver indoors basically what I'm saying is I ended up liking this thing more than all right so this is going to be a ride on my electric scooter and I'm going to a Costco and come along with me Costco is a couple of freeway edges it's away from me but I'm lucky in the area that I live in that I have a lot of walking pals and bike paths that I can take it's about four miles away or so so I've got the GoPro Hero 5 and the loud mic on hopefully you're not getting too much wood noise here I don't know exactly how it's going to turn out but it should definitely be better than built-in audio at least this scooter can go 15 miles an hour and has a range of 15 miles as well [Music] and it's one of the better ones I did a lot of research it's by gly on you can check the description field for the pricing it's a few hundred dollars less than the nearest competitor yet it performs and is built a lot better I think it's a ways about I think 26 pounds or so so it's a little bit lighter than some of the other ones but one of the main things about this one is that it it folds up nicely it folds up into a vertical position see kind of stored in a closet or behind a door or something it also has a dolly feature to where you can pull it behind you like luggage with a handle and wheel it so it's sort of us discreet that way [Music] I've actually been to three different restaurants already with it all within about ten miles of where I live and uh I was able to just wheel it with me and nobody even batted an eye nobody said anything cause it's so discreet when you just wheel it in and maybe I was even able to find a plug and just plug it in and charge it to and nobody even said anything over carat or anything also the gly on company has really good customer service I actually emailed them with a couple questions before I purchased it and I heard right back from the one of the founders so that was kind of cool so they're not you know some unknown manufacturer also their specs are pretty good in terms of the battery they state you know that they use I think it's a Sony lithium-ion cell so they don't lie about what Souls they use and everything like that it's got the 250 watt motor with 600 watt peak and I think it's 36 volts charge time on it from a full dead batteries about three and a half hours and again it has 15 mile range so this is one of the walking flash bike paths and you'll kind of see I can just sort of traverse this all the way to my destination [Music] I was trying to slow down for pedestrians okay they don't see me although this does have a bell that it comes with too [Music] one of the things that was important to me was getting a electric scooter with maintenance-free wheels or maintance three tires a lot of them have inflatable tires but those can puncture really easily and also of they're hard to keep inflated to the right psi all the time this one has what they call honeycomb rubber wheels they're maintenance-free that you never have to inflate them or anything like that although it does provide a little bit more of a hardier ride little Gosling's here don't want to hit them [Music] I don't know if you saw in the video but that one Canadian goose was hissing at me as I pulled up to it protecting it protecting their little goth wings but anyway so yeah the tires on this they're kind of like inflatable tires in that they provide some shock absorption kind of almost like a hard inflatable but yet they're non inflatable tyres and they don't really puncture and you never have to inflate them or anything which is nice [Music] eight inch wheels officer so they're a little bit bigger than some of the other electric t scooters so that also helps to to make it a little bit smoother as well given the fact that these have the non inflatable tires certainly inflatable tires would provide a smoother ride over the bumps and stuff but this was a trade-off that I was willing to take because I did not want inflatable tires [Music] [Music] I could also take the boosted board on this trip as well although with the non extended battery that's the extended battery is not out yet I could probably get there but I don't know if I could get all the way back home without range with the standard boosted board battery the other thing is you'll notice this road has a lot of gravel on it and I try to avoid a lot of gravel going on the booster board with a lot of gravel just because it can get into the belt and it can start hitting the underside you know the motor or motor mounts and all that I mean that's not that big a deal I have ridden this road or this path on my boosted board before check the link for that video but I just preferred the the scooter um for this surface and for most rough surfaces just because it goes over the bumps a lot easier and the gravel that handles the gravel a lot easier as well this good also has fenders as well so you know just handles a lot of the road debris and stuff a lot better I'll stop up here in a little bit along this path and get off the scooter so you can actually see what it looks like [Music] there's these dividers here this path that the boosted board can be a little problematic on you kind of have to jump a little bit on them whereas on the scooter I mean I'm still jumping a little bit over them but it kind of glides over them a little bit better and you really feel like you're you've got superpowers or something like you're just hovering over the land there's hardly any effort at all just like with the with the boosted board it's just really a lot of fun I'm going to stop here real quick and I'm just going to let it coast to a stop and then I'll get off the scooter and just show it to you alright so it has an electric brake here on this brake you've got the kickstand as well some scooters don't even have that so yeah there's the scooter right there it's got a cool professional and design in a professional industrial design it's not like a toy it's more of a commuter tool this thing is great for commuting with I mean you can take it off the bus take it on the subway [Music] and I've ridden to singing them in traffic to like busy city traffic's not really my preferred method just for safety reasons but as long as you kind of stay on the right side of the road most of the time and then go with the flow of traffic you're generally pretty good with it it works pretty well [Music] but yeah certainly if given the opportunity I would always try to take a path like this I mean it's just such a such a pretty ride so nice out today too [Music] so yeah I've got my backpack on and I'll buy a couple things from Costco and I can just bring it back on the scooter I also have to maybe pick up some stuff from the food court as well one thing you will notice is sometimes the motor even though the quiet motor kind of freaks out dog sometimes so I try not to have the motor revving when there's dogs around this is a dog park right here to my right so if I see a dog's right by me I'll kind of not not accelerate so it doesn't like freak around as much the booster board has that issue as well maybe even two more or more more of an extension that justö board is louder I could go around stay on the path a little longer to get to where I'm going but I like to go this way just so I end up on the right side of the the street to enter the Costco where I'm going but yeah this is works really well as a commute tool I think you know if you work or need to go places regularly I would say within 10 miles of where you live well I get into a car you know what I mean it's perfect for places that are longer that you would want to walk but shorter than you would probably want to get in a car drive I mean it just doesn't make sense to drive like a few miles in their car [Music] [Music] [Music] and
